Choose a cohesive colour palette and use this to design all the rooms in your home so there is some flow. While you’ll want each room to be different it helps if they work as a set. It’s really important to dig deep and work out which colours and hues resonate with you. If you’re stuck on where to start you can begin by looking in your wardrobe to see the colours you naturally pick out.

At 33RE ,we find that three is a bit of a magic number when pulling a scheme together with the hero colour being around 60-70 per cent of the scheme (think walls, floors or large pieces of furniture), then the secondary colour being around 20-30 per cent (for example soft furnishings), with the final accent colour around 10-5 per cent (that’s cushions, artwork and vases). You can add neutrals in with this, We call them a free colour, and can be found in wood flooring and furniture, for example.

Interior decoration tips

Add metallic or timber touches into more sterile areas of an all-white interior such as the bathroom or kitchen. Think hardware features in copper or brass and timber accent detailing to help add warmth and definition. Even décor in metallic or wooden finishes can help to make all the difference in these rooms.

How to use black? Make a bold statement with a black accent wall. This dark backdrop is the perfect way to highlight the rest of her light and bright décor. We can use black in interior design as a focal point for the room which easily draws your attention to the details of coordinating bedding and home décor.

Pets are great, but we love house plants too! Here’s some of our favourite ideas on how having some greenery in your living space can totally freshen up your interior design!

Plants tend to be an afterthought in interior design. And the more bad experiences you have with plants , the more likely you are to push them to the back burner or forget about them altogether. However, we know that plants make us happier, helps us recharge and even be more productive.

Using plants in modern design is even more of a challenge because modern design seems to demand clean lines and simplicity. Nature, on the other hand, tends to be wild and chaotic. However, that doesn’t mean modern interiors need to forego greenery. There are ways to make it work and bring plants into the design as a creative layer that is equally as important as the other accessories in the room.
